Rick Ross catches heat for some lyrics and issue an apology, while Gucci Mane and Waka Flocka Flame have the weirdest week ever.
This week, Hip Hop fans reacted harshly to a line spit by Rick Ross on Rocko's "U.O.E.N.O. (You Ain't even Know It)" alluding to rape. The line lead to a petition from fans, a radio station ban, and an attempted clarification by Ross. Lil Wayne appears as though he will impact the charts this week with the release of his I Am Not a Human Being II, which looks to land a top-five debut. Finally, Gucci Mane and Wacka Flocka continued to clash this week.Rick Ross Spits Questionable Line,
Fans & Radio React & Ross Clarifies
Rick Ross caught major heat for his lyric on Rocko's "U.O.E.N.O. (You Ain't even Know It)," where he raps, "Put molly all in her champagne, she ain't even know it / I took her home and enjoy that, she ain't even know it." As a result of the rhyme, a petition was created on Change.org calling for an apology from Ross. The bad PR continued when Michigan's WUVS 103.7 announced that it would be banning Ross (as well as Lil Wayne) for their recent controversial lyrics until they apologized for them. Ross attempted an apology on Friday (March 29th) by going onto Q 93.3, calling the situation a "misunderstanding.""I want to make sure this is clear," said Rozay. "Woman is the most precious gift known to man, you understand? It was a misunderstanding with a lyric, a misinterpretation where the term rape wasn't used. I would never use the word rape in my records."
