The Barth family, which includes two youngsters who survived the mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School, lost their home to a devastating Wednesday afternoon blaze.
Hans and Audra Barth's home was condemned Friday by investigators after a fire started Wednesday in their dryer while they were at Sandy Hook school for parent-teacher conferences. Hans and Audra Barth, along with their three children, were staying in a hotel after the devastating Wednesday afternoon blaze that destroyed their Newtown house and killed the family dog.
“We lost everything,” Hans Barth told the Daily News on Friday. “There is nothing left. They are going to have to bulldoze our home. I’m just very thankful that everyone is OK The home was empty when the fire started around 3:20 p.m. near a washing machine, authorities said. But the blaze ruined all of the family’s property and personal keepsakes.

The couple’s 6-year-old son Peter was a first-grader at Sandy Hook Elementary School. He survived the Dec. 14 carnage when teacher Kaitlin Roig locked their classroom door and steered her 15 students into a bathroom.
Shanice Barth, 8, was a Sandy Hook third-grader. The couple also has a 2-year-old son, Jacob.
Twenty first-graders were among the 26 people killed when a lone gunman armed with an assault rifle sprayed the school with more than 150 bullets in mere minutes.
